HBO Max gets a Batman spinoff show based on the upcoming Robert Pattinson film

HBO Max has announced a new TV series that will focus on the Gotham City Police Department and will be a spin-off from Matt Reeves & # 39; The Batman Film (to be played by Robert Pattinson at Bruce Wayne / Batman).

The new series takes place in the same world as Reeves' film and is produced by Reeves and Dylan Clark (who also produces) The Batman). Boardwalk Empire Creator Terence Winter will write the series.

The Batman isn't the only feature WarnerMedia wants to extend to HBO Max. The company will also try a similar experiment with the upcoming one dune Adaptation. A spin-off for HBO Max has already been announced. Dune: the sisterhood, that will explore the larger world of dune and the characters in it. It is produced by dune Director Denis Villeneuve.

WarnerMedia isn't the only company trying to tie its blockbusters to streaming. It's also a cornerstone of Disney's strategy for Disney Plus, which emphasized this war of stars Series (like The Mandalorian) and like the upcoming Marvel shows The falcon and the winter soldier or Loki as ways to drive subscriptions.

There is no release date for the upcoming Gotham PD HBO Max series yet. The Batman to appear on October 1, 2021.
